FUT is the process of removing an entire strip of hair from the back of the head and harvesting the hair follicles from this strip. Unfortunately, this will leave an obvious scar across the patient's head. In contrast, FUE uses the process of removing individual hair follicles from different regions of the head. As a result, it is undetectable to the human eye and leaves no scarring.
Recovery time is also an essential factor to consider. FUT removes an entire strip of tissue from the scalp; thus, it can take weeks for the area to heal. However, as the removed follicles are small using FUE treatment, it generates minimal bleeding and so generally requires no longer than 7 days to heal.
With this in mind, there is no competition between the two different techniques. FUE is ultimately the better choice for an aesthetic end result and overall the patient's wellbeing, which is why it is the only, practised technique in our clinic.
