How to wash the transplanted hair

Proper washing of your transplanted hair is vital for a smooth recovery and optimal hair transplant results.

  1. Day 3 (72 hours post‑surgery): Begin rinsing the grafted area gently with lukewarm water once a day. This helps soften the scabs without disturbing the newly implanted follicles.

  2. After day 4: Switch to a mild shampoo and wash gently every day. Follow this cleansing ritual every day until all scabs have naturally detached. Consistent washing keeps the area clean and accelerates scab removal.

  3. Scab shedding (7–10 days): Most scabs will fall away within a week to ten days. Once they’re gone, your hair follicles are free to grow unhindered—marking the true start of your new growth phase.

How to Wash Your Hair After Your Hair Transplant

When rinsing or washing your hair, use lukewarm water with a gentle flow—avoid applying direct pressure on the grafts. Let the water run over the transplant area for at least ten minutes to soften and help scabs fall off more easily. Continue this rinse daily until all scabs have gone, which typically takes seven to ten days. From day eleven onward, you may begin to gently massage your scalp while washing. You can also start washing the donor area on your neck as soon as the bandage is removed.

Gently Pat the Area Dry

After washing, softly pat the transplant site using clean paper towels. Once the initial healing days have passed, you can switch to a fresh, soft towel to continue drying the area with care.
